Fresha Devon and Exeter Premier Division
Chard Res 6, Budleigh Salterton Res 2
TWO hat-tricks from Paul Olawuni and Adam Tovey saw Chards open their Fresha Devon and Exeter Premier League programme with a resounding victory over Budleigh Salterton on Saturday.
With eight newcomers in their 14-man squad, including five of last season’s successful Under-18s, Chard were 2-1 up at the break and went on to net at regular intervals in the second half.
Although Budleigh equalised an early Olawuni goal, a further Olowuni strike made it 2-1. Tovey converted a Max Westlake cross to increase Chard’s lead early in the second half.
Further goals from Olawuni and Tovey made it 5-1, before Budleigh pulled a second back.
However, Tovey soon completed his hat-trick as Chard ran out comfortable winners.
