Burnham II 147-2 lost to Wembdon Wyverns 267-5 by 120 runs
BURNHAM second team slumped to a heavy 120-run defeat at the hands of Wembdon Wyverns in a rain affected contest.
In a game reduced to 42 overs a side, Wembdon amassed 267-5 thanks to 98 from Jordan Rawles and an unbeaten half-century from Will Pope (50no).
Andy Birkett (2-61), L Smith (1-50) and D Worthington (1-69) were the Burnham wicket takers - but they were unable to prevent the home side from reaching a more than competitive total.
Early in the Burnham reply, Pete Gaylard (1) and G Batt (21) fell to the bowling of M Sellick (1-28) and D Watts (1-15) respectively Andy Ashfold (49no) and A Smith (41no) were left unbeaten at the end as Burnham finished on 147-2, but they were a long way short of the required rate.
