TIVERTON returned to winning ways when they beat Woodbury by 140 runs in division F of the Devon Cricket League yesterday.

Tivvy lost the toss and were asked to bat in damp, grey conditions.

They lost Jerry Reed first ball and brother Tim soon followed the leave the score 20-2.

Jon Hall saw off the openers with some skilful batting before he fell with the score on 40.

But skipper Brendon Parr and Richard Pugsley repaired the damage in style, adding 139 for the fourth wicket.

Parr was stumped for an excellent 81 while Pugsley (91 not) finished the Innings off in style with some big shots taking Tivvy to 225-5 off their 40 Overs.

In reply Woodbury struggled against the new ball attack of Paul Rendall and Dane Williams.

The introduction to the attack of Pugsley (2-2) saw the back of dangerous opener Kavanagh for 24.

Then Jerry Reed avenged his duck with a superb spell of 5-14. Parr came to the party as well, collecting two wickets, as Woodbury finished on 85-9.

Tiverton continue their push for promotion next Saturday when they host Uppottery.
