THE Castle Combe motor racing circuit in Wiltshire saw the latest round of the National Youth circuit racing series take place.

Some tremendous performances and results emerged from the McKinlays 1st Chard Wheelers youth riders taking part.

The top ride of the day came from Under-16 racer Emily Attfield who continued her current run of top form with probably the greatest race her career to date.

Attfield, and South West regional team-mate Lauren Dolan, from Barnstaple, broke away from the field around the half way point and opened up a substantial lead.

Working together as a team, they were able to maintain a 30 second advantage over the main bunch for the rest of the race.

In the final sprint, Attfield proved the stronger, taking victory by a few bike lengths.

After topping the podium in the National level event, a delighted Emily said: “I thought that last lap was never going to end”.

Joe West and Ryan White both recorded excellent rides in their categories, to finish in the top 20 bunch sprints. Under-10 racer Jack Webb rode his first national level event and put in a very strong ride to take a brilliant top ten placing over a distance much longer than he is used to.
