JESS Bradley continued her record-breaking year by winning the ladies' 36-hole Club Championship at Tiverton on Wednesday.

On a day dominated by players who have come through the club’s junior set-up, Bradley followed up a gross 77 in the morning with a one-under 73 in the afternoon for a total of 150.

The 22-year-old, who plays off +1, was chased gallantly by Grace Jackson (156) and Abbie Moyes (157).

Jackson, still a junior, had rounds of 79 and 77 while Moyes posted scores of 79 and 78.

Bethany Baker, aged 13, finished fourth on 178 after rounds of 90 and 88.

Six-handicapper Jackson claimed the Rose Bowl for the lowest nett total, as scores of 73 and 71 gave her a four-under aggregate of 144.

Moyes (74+73=147) came second on a countback from Maureen Postles (73+74=147) while fourth prize went to Alison Hilton (76+72=148).

The first round doubled up as the August Medal, which also went to Jackson for her nett 73.

Victory in the main event was the latest success for Bradley, who has been studying at Lynn University in Florida.

A record number of top-10 finishes led to her becoming the first woman to be named NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division Two Player of the Year in the USA.

She also became only the second woman to be named the Sunshine State Conference Golfer of the Year.

Bradley finished runner-up in the NCAA Division Two National Championship, helping Lynn win the team title for the second successive year.

Rhys Cruse was a shot away from equalling the course record after carding a five-under gross 66 in the men’s Johnstone Cup.

But it wasn’t good enough for victory as his nett 67 was beaten by a 65 from Ced Gibbons.

Cruse, playing off +1, birdied the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th to go four under. A birdie on the 15th edged him closer to the record set twice by Simon Waddington, but birdie putts on the 17th and 18th stayed above ground.

Gibbons, playing off 20, won Division Two by two from Stuart Moore and Kenneth Rixon.

Cruse finished one ahead of Nixie Acfield, Alan Snow and Harry Konig in Division One.

Konig had a gross 68, which cut his handicap from scratch to +1.

Davey, aged 42, posted a nett 69 in the morning followed by a 67 in the afternoon for an eight-under total of 136.
