IT'S been a record-breaking week for swimmer Charlie Attwood as the 16-year-old Bridgwater College student put on a storming display at the British Gas International swim meet in Manchester.

Attwood powered to victory in the 50m breaststroke in a British record time of 29.07, before winning the junior 100m breaststroke in an English record time of 1:03.05 - knocking almost a second off of his qualifying time in the process.

The former Chilton trinity School pupil rounded off proceedings with a sixth place finish in the 200m senior breaststroke final, an impressive result for the teenager who was up against two Olympians and five swimmers heading to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this month.

Attwood broke two British age-group records last July on his way to gold in the boys' 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m breaststroke at the European Youth Olympics in Holland.
