TWO Chard School pupils both won silver medals at the Independent Schools Association’s National Athletics finals in Birmingham last Monday.
Year 4 pupil Millie Tucker completed the 60m race in 9.5 seconds and only missed out on gold by three tenths.
George Bromfield, who is in Year 6, came second in the Cricket Ball Throw after hurling 47.15 metres.
The school’s head of games, Ann Taswell, said: “This is a wonderful achievement for Millie, George and the school, especially as Chard is a small independent school and the pupils were competing at national level.
“It demonstrates how our small class sizes, excellent facilities and specialist subject teaching nurture each individual child to flourish in their academic, sporting and musical pursuits and to achieve at the highest level.”
Millie and George were representing the South-West, one of seven regions taking part.
