PETER Boax, Jim Bray, Neil Forward and Ian Toogood posted a 20-under total of 92 Stableford points to win the men’s prize in the Captain’s Day team competition at Tiverton on Saturday.

Jess Bradley, Abbie Moyes, Jo Lloyd-Davies and Alison Hilton claimed the ladies’ prize with 79 while the mixed winners were Gary and Mollie Pilling, Shaun White and Tony Wood-Wright with 86.

Players started from the 10th tee, with one score to count on the first six holes, two on the second six and three on the final six.

The event raised more than £3,500 for the Captain’s Charity – the Tiverton Market youth drop-in centre.

Mother and daughter Amanda and Abbie Moyes teamed up with Julie Hasell to win the ladies’ Texas scramble on Wednesday.

A total of 19 teams took part, raising £100 for team funds.

The ladies halved 3-3 at home to Dainton Park in the Devon League, which meant a 9-6 defeat on points.

Dori Bracken (4 and 3), Pauline Hussey (2 up) and Julia Cole (4 and 3) were the Tiverton winners.

The President’s Trophy II team went down 4½-2½ away at Tavistock.

Shirley Ward and Kay Leach won for the visitors while Anto Hajduk halved.

The result followed a 3½-3½ result at home to Torquay, when Hajduk, Ward and Ivy Radford won and Pauline Pym halved.

Tiverton’s juniors made it three wins out of three in the East Devon League with a 4½-1½ victory at home to Woodbury Park on Sunday.

Alex Gibson (4 and 3), Sam Heard (5 and 4), Jay Buckingham (6 and 5) and Charlie Sampson (5 and 4) were the home winners.

Captain Tom Hanson halved while Jimmy Heard went down 4 and 2.

Non-CONGU players Dave Baldwin, Sam Pryce, Will Bucknell and Ben Reynolds played at the back of the match and both fourball games went to sudden-death, with Tiverton winning one and losing one.

Tiverton’s first two league victories were at home and away against Exminster.

Tiverton won 6½-3½ at home to East Devon in a mixed match on Sunday.
