Lympsham Sunday Development XI 110 for 2 beat Chard Sunday XI 105 all out by eight wickets

Lympsham travelled to Chard and captain Tom Gooding having won the toss elected to bowl.

Opening bowlers Tom Ferns (3 for 22) and Liam Morris (2 for 22) did not let the Chard batsman settle with Morris taking the first two wickets in the second over.

Tom Ferns picked up two wickets in the fifth over and a third in the seventh.

Chard opener T Whitten (22) and J Draper (26) put up some resistance but a change of bowling continued the pressure with Max Gregory (2 for 39) taking two wickets and Jules Froud ( 0 for 17) bowling tidily unlucky not to take a wicket.

Adam Micklewright finished off the Chard attack bowling one over and taking the final two wickets with Chard finishing on 105.

In reply Lympsham openers Gary Hutton (18) and Felix Granfield (9) got the innings off to a solid start.

Chard got the breakthrough in the sixth over with Hutton bowled by Draper and Draper hit again in the eighth over bowling Grandfield.

This brought Jack Luff (46 no) and Tom Gooding (21 no) to the crease who set about knocking off the runs.

With one run needed and Luff on 46 and facing, a boundary was expected but the Chard bowler bowled a wide to give Lympsham the victory.
