Somerset Cricket League Division Two

Burnham 44 lost to Huish & Langport 214-3 by 170 runs

BURNHAM are still without a win in the Somerset Cricket Legaue this season after a nother crushing defeat, this time at the hands of Huish & Langport.

Chasing 215 for victory on Saturday, Burnham were rolled for just 44, with only Jim Bloodworth (20no) reaching double figures.

Johnathan* Watts (76no) and Dan Jarvis (48no) fired Huish & Langport to an imposing total batting first, while Mike Green (1-54) and James Annison (1-62) were the pick of the Burnham bowlers.

Burnham had started the game well, with Green removing opener Pickford with the score on 26.

Crocker followed soon after to the bowling of Smith, to reduce Huish to 54-2.

Crossley added a quick fire 24 before he became Annison’s first victim of the afternoon – but from here on in it was all Huish, as Watts and Jarvis took charge.

The pair took the game to Burnham to put on an unbeaten century stand and carry Huish to 214-3 from their 45 overs.

Batting has been something of a problem for Burnham this season, with a season’s highest score of 133 – and this again proved to be the case, as Huish opening bowlers Dominic Shillabeer (6-21) and Mike Crumb (4-22) tore through the line-up.

Smith, Harris, White, Adams and Annison were all dismissed without troubling the scorers, while Harding (8) finished up as second top scorer to the unbeaten Bloodworth.

The result leaves Burnham rock bottom of Division Two having lost all four of their fixtures that survived the weather.
