CAROLINE Faithfull, of Langport, has just won three bronze medals at the British Learning Disability Championships in Cardiff.

Caroline, who is 19 and has Down’s Syndrome, won the medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle, achieving a personal best in the 400.

At the European Down Syndrome Open competition last month Caroline won gold for the 200m and 400m along with silver at 50m and 100m.

A regular member of the GB squad, Caroline is now targeting the Down’s Syndrome world championships in Mexico this November.

Her father David said: “The competition is every two years and is completely self-funded so Caroline will be undertaking some fund-raising events as well as looking for sponsorship to help raise money for the trip. She has two more competitions before the summer break but will continue to train hard for Mexico.”

Caroline, who is taking a Foundation Learning programme at Somerset College, trains twice a week with the Taunton Deane club and once a month with the GB team at Reading Cygnets.
