KING'S Hall pupil Magnus Larsen claimed third place in the British Schools Cycling Association Criterium Championships – despite being the youngest rider in the race.
The event was held over a very tight and twisting circuit of one kilometre at Darley Moor in Derbyshire with competitors in the Under 9 race having to complete ten laps.
Despite a fast start two of the riders managed to establish a gap between themselves and the main group leaving a bunch sprint for the bronze medal.
In the final straight Larsen unleashed a highly impressive sprint, with a straight line speed of just over 30mph, to take third place comfortably.
Larsen is lying third in the best all-rounder competition and is now in training for the national hillclimb in Hampshire followed by the track championships in Brighton.
