WEPL Premier Two Second XI

Bridgwater II 140 lost to Frocester 153 by 13 runs

KYRAN Devitt’s counter attacking innings of 61 proved to be in vain as Bridgwater fell agonisingly short at home to Frocester.

Devitt struck the ball cleanly throughout his valiant innings, but lacked any real support as Bridgwater fell 13 runs short.

Higgins (2-29) bowled an exemplary opening spell against the strong Frocester batting line up, and he was well supported by Chris Singleton (2-23) – as Frocester were dismissed for 153.

Bridgwater’s reply never really got going until Devitt came to the wicket.

The young all-rounder struck the ball as clean as any batsmen in the entire game as he almost produced a brilliant counter attack, only to be caught right on the boundary off the first ball of the final over.

There was a mature contribution from Ben Coombes (16) opening the batting, but not enough substance from the remainder as the home side fell agonisingly short.
