NORTH Perrott claimed a wicket off the penultimate ball of their game with Ashbrittle in Division 1 of the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset league to snatch a dramatic tie.

North Perrott made 125 in their 45 overs, opener G Whorlow once again carrying the innings with 62.

Ashbrittle looked to be edging home before M Downing struck to leave both sides with 24 points and North Perrott still at the top of the table.

In Division 2 Barrington lost their top-of-the-table clash with Watchet by four wickets.

Barrington scored 148 all out, B Tyekiff top scoring with 32, and then looked to have Watchet on the rack as wickets fell at regular intervals.

But No8 R Pryke (38*) and opener C Sully (52*) then combined to guide Watchet home with 14 balls to spare.

The pick of the Barrington bowlers was D Brain with 2-21 in 12 overs.

In Division Four the match between Broadway and Horton and South Petherton was cancelled.

Ilminster A were no match for Taunton Deane Cavaliers in Division 6 as Cavaliers romped to 286-4, opener D Stephenson top scoring with 92 not out.

Ilminster replied eith 106 not out in jut 26.2 overs, S Glover hitting 24 not out and T Crawley 22.

Excellent bowling from Crewkerne’s S Rowswell (4-9 in 7.5) and R Keylock junior (5-11 in 7) rushed Glastonbury Lambs out for just 31 in Division 7. T Rice top scored with eight – and 16 of the runs came from extras.

Rowsell (38*) had earlier enjoyed himself with the bat as Crewkerne rattled up 215-6. J Gould scored 56 and R James 49.

Chard A were well beaten as Wembdon Wyverns eased past their total of 156-6 with eight wickets and 12 overs in hand. The bulk of the Wyverns’s runs came from K Cosens (94*).

North Perrott 3rds managed just 120 all out in Division 8N and then saw All Saints pass their total with three wickets in hand.

Top scorer for Perrott was J Hopper (39) while L Szczepanki bowled a tidy 12 over to take 2-18.

Ilminster B were unable to raise a side for the fourth time this season in Division 9SE and had to concede to Chard 750 who picked up a handy 35 points to move away from the lower reaches of the table.

Half-centuries by L Watkins (56) and P Andrews (50) saw Broadway and Horton 2nds to a match-winning total of 170-8 against Taunton and St Andrews B.

Saints replied with 130-7, G Field taking 3-31 in 12 and and Watkins 2-8 in nine.
