ILMINSTER Tigers Under-12s won the Yeovil and district league’s St John’s Plate final 1-0 against a very competitive Milborne Port side.

The first half finished 0-0 with both goalkeepers largely unemployed and defences on top.

In the second half Ilminster started to imposed themselves with some lovely football.

They eventually pierced the Milborne defence with a clinical finish from Tom Anderson after good work down the right.

Ilminster were very comfortable at this time but as the half wore on Milbourne came more into the game and with a few minutes remaining they were given a disputed penalty.

The penalty was struck strongly to the corner of Jack Rutter’s goal but he dived to his right and with a match-winning save brilliantly pushed it out which allowed the defence to clear.
