HIGHBRIDGE Town have moved another step closer to Somerset County League football after their application was approved by league officials.
The only hurdle that remains is a voting process which sees clubs from the County League vote in the selected clubs at the AGM – but club chairman Matt Pitt is confident they will be playing the County League next season.
He said: “I don’t think any club selected by the league has been voted against by the other clubs, so I would be surprised if it happened to us.
“We have got our facilities up to scratch for the league and they have approved, the league just need to give it all another inspection next week, before the voting at the AGM on June 2.
“We have been aiming for this for a long time and I’m really pleased that we are nearly there.”
Highbridge Town were crowned Taunton & District League champions earlier this month after winning Division One.
