This is The West Country: Tigers next up for Rebels at Oaktree Arena Tigers next up for Rebels at Oaktree Arena

THE Somerset Rebels will be looking to continue their excellent run of form, which has seen them hit the 60 point barrier in each of their last four home matches, when they welcome the Sheffield Tigers to the Oaktree Arena on Friday (May 23).

Rebels’ team manager Garry May believes his side are in for a challenging evening.

He said: “The boys have really been on fire in the past 4 home matches, with some of those matches being against some well fancied opposition.

“On paper Sheffield have a team that could really push us, and with Ty (Proctor) now in their side I am sure that he will be coming to the Oaktree Arena wanting to prove a point, but I think our greater all-round strength should see us through to what we hope will be another maximum three league points.”

While the top five may have a very experienced look about it, at reserve the Tigers have gone for youth with Dane Simon Nielsen and the recently crowned British under-21 Champion, Josh Bates being their two representatives.

Somerset will be tracking their full 1-7 for Friday’s match - Brady Kurtz has suffered no ill-effects of his nasty looking spill in heat nine of last Friday’s demolition of Redcar.

His withdrawal from the meeting following his crash was a precaution on the part of the Somerset team management.
