TAUNTON St Andrews will include their new overseas signing, Zimbabwean Under-19 international Deven Bell, in the line up for their WEPL Premier 1 opener at Corsham on Saturday.

Saints have consistently been one of the strongest sides in the WEPL Premier Division and are hoping that the leg- spinning all-rounder will help them to capture the championship title again.

Bell said: “This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to helping Taunton St Andrews to have a successful season.

“I have just come back from playing in the Under-19s World Cup which was a great experience for me. I have also played a few state games back in Zimbabwe for Moshonaland Eagles, the local Harare side.

He added: “I had a bit of a warm up with the Somerset Second team this morning so now I am really looking forward to getting started with St Andrews.”

Bell is no stranger to English conditions because last summer he was playing cricket for Billquay in the Durham League.

Saints chairman Richard Brice said: “Its always good an overseas player at the club and we always enjoy having a leg spinner in our side. I went out to Abu Dhabi to see Deven play in the Under-19s competition and he looked like the boy for us to sign.”

“Things are looking pretty good for us at the Saints going into the new season and we will be looking to work our way to winning the title again. It’s tough for clubs like us against the big sides like Bath but we will keep on trying.”
