RICHARD Hughes has given himself the chance to play at Ryder Cup venue Gleneagles this September in the Lombard Trophy.
The 18 handicapper won Padbrook Park’s qualifying event with a score of 33 points.
He pipped Gary Stevenson on virtue of a better finish. Sherrie Vile took third place on 31 points.
Hughes will now team up with Padbrook Professional Stuart Disney in the Regional qualifier at Burnham and Berrow in July with the best pairings then making the grand final in Scotland.

Padbrook staged its inaugural Par 3 Competition. The event aims to take less time to complete and has holes ranging in distance from 81 to 171 yards.
The winner was Will Hellier, who was playing in his first event. Neil Woodman was second and Tom Payne took third spot.

Brian Fletcher won the Senior’s April Stableford after three players tied on 33 points. His best score over the closing holes saw him take the prize.
