IT’S congratulations to the Bombers, who have won the Highbridge & District Skittles League Division 1 title after they defeated the Robins by 13 pins at the Victoria Hotel.

Keith Morgan was the hero for the champion, top scoring with 74.

It is the Bombers’ 22nd title in the last 28 years and they have finished runners-up in the other six years – a truly remarkable record that will surely never be beaten.

Poachers have to settle for the runnersup spot after they defeated Tryer’s by 19 at the Crossways Inn, Jim Verncombe top scoring with 76.

Elsewhere, there was an unbelievable match at the Lighthouse Inn, where Gunners defeated Cowboys by five, despite Cowboys pulling on six hands! A third hand of 108 by Gunners pulled 47, and it was just enough for the victory.

Pete Steels 73 and Ben Sharland 71 top scored for Gunners, while, for Cowboys, Darren Cornish top scored with 74 and Nick Morgan chipped in with 70.

At the bottom, The Lads avoided relegation as they defeated Steamers by three at the Victoria Hote.

Mike Skelding was The Lads’ hero after scoring 79, and they leapfrogged Snurgers, who are now relegated along with Robins and Little Acorns.
