EIGHT-man Wembdon Saints were knocked out of the cup by Wellington at the weekend.
Wellington scored twice early on to take an early lead, but Wembdon didn't drop their heads and continued to compete in all areas of the park.
The three defenders worked hard throughout the game and were kept busy by a lively Wellington side, all of them making telling tackles.
The midfield four really worked hard throughout and had spells in the second half where they put Wellington under a lot of pressure.
Every player worked really hard and all good chances to score - the team played to the end and during the second half played some excellent passing football Staplegrove 4, Wembdon Saints 1 WEMBDON gave a good all round team performance against a much stronger side who went on to win the championship with this result.
Wembdon were always playing catch up after conceding goal in the first five minutes following a loose ball being forced home from close range.
Wembdon didn't let their heads drop and competed with Staplegrove going close on a couple of occasions looking for an equaliser.
Just before the half time break Staplegrove scored a second which was the goal of the game a long range volley from the edge of the box giving Dan James little chance in the Wembdon goal.
The second half saw Wembdon play some very attractive football but found it hard to break down a stubborn defence - Staplegrove increased their lead before Wembdon found the net.
Alex Stevens scored directly from a corner, bending it in at the near post.
This gave Wembdon slight hope as there was still twenty minutes remaining and were putting a lot of pressure on Staplegrove.
With five minutes left Staplegrove made the game safe with a fourth but Wembdon battled to the end
