## Despite glorious weather on Sunday there was a sombre mood for the first two Uxella League cup finals of the season at Bridgwater Town’s Fairfax Park after the death earlier in the week of longstanding league president Colin ‘Knox’ Gardner at the age of 78.

A founder-member of the Bridgwater Sunday League in 1966, ‘Knox’" was president for seven years, having previously spent many years as manager of the all-conquering Blake Old Boys during their golden era when they were the best Sunday League side in Somerset in the 1970s and 80s.

Colin was also heavily involved in many other Bridgwater institutions, notably the Carnival, so his funeral, at St Mary's Church on April 28at 11am, is sure to be well attended.
