NEW Enmore club captain Ken Doig started his year in office with the traditional drive-in.
The day consisted of a better ball competition in the morning and a mixed greensome in the afternoon.
Enmore Park Seniors began their 2014 season of friendly matches with a home fixture against the seniors from Mending Spring, and it was a fine start for new captain John Newell.
With his partner, Paul Waplington, he recorded the first Enmore point on the scoreboard with a resounding win by 4 & 3.
Other Enmore winning pairs were Paul Hibberd with Tony Pomeroy (6 & 4); Keith Norcutt with Peter Robinson (2 & 1); Jim Veale with Ian Morrison (6 & 5); and Dave Cousins with Jim Smith (2 up).
Mike Perry and Dave Pascoe secured a half point for a fine victory overall by 5½ to 2½.
Two days later Enmore hosted the seniors from the flood ravaged Long Sutton club with not so happy an outcome with captain Newell unable to repeat the earlier performance.
Graham Pain with Roger Anniss lead the way with a 3 & 2 win supported by Jim Smith with Peter Robinson (3 & 2) and Ray Hancock with John Patterson (2 & 1).
Keith Norcutt with Colin Bradley secured a half point in a losing score for Enmore of 3½ to 5½.
