A BRIDGWATER College student is training hard to secure a place in an international triathlon competition later in the year.
Frances Palmer, 18, from Highbridge, studies the Level 3 Development, Coaching and Fitness Diploma at the College and has received conditional offers to study Strength Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage at Cardiff Metropolitan University and Sports Psychology at Bournemouth University.
She is currently training twice a day to try and qualify for the Triathlon Sprint Age Group World Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
Frances, a former pupil of the Kings of Wessex Academy said: “My studies at Bridgwater College have helped me achieve my career goals, particularly by teaching me how to manage the various soft tissue injuries that I suffer.
"I have also been able to apply the principles from my nutrition lessons to my training, to ensure that I stay well hydrated.”
Toby Dean, Programme Manager at the College said: “Frances has worked fantastically throughout her time at Bridgwater College, and has displayed a conscientious approach to her studies. Her organisation skills are also exceptional, and all of the teaching team wish her the very best in her forthcoming competitions.”
