RICHARD Triscott took the Charles Cooke March Hare at Brean Golf Club this weekend.

Triscott scored 39 points in a one-point winning margin over Tom Broom.

Broom wasn't at his best from tee to green but as any golfer will tell you a good short game can often make up for that shortfall.

He also held a one point advantage over a trio of challengers on 37.

Mike Porter, a winner last Saturday, won the countback to take third ahead of another form man in Roger Vaughan. Eamonn Wynne was the other player to record 37 points but unfortunately missed out on countback and ended up in fifth spot and out of the prize money.

BARRIE Yearsley and John Sherwood survived the hailstorm that fell on the course on Tuesday morning to secure victory in the Seniors Winter League Greensomes Stableford event.

For a short time the greens turned to ‘whites’ but they combined to score 37 points and win by one from Dai Wood and Mike Allen.

For Wood it was his second runners up finish in the last four days after missing out on count back at the weekend. Third place went to Tony Tissington and Bob Hurrell with 35.

BREAN Director of Golf David Haines finished second to Enmore Park’s Touring Professional David Dixon in last week’s Gloucester and Somerset PGA Medal.

Playing at Naunton Downs Golf Club in Gloucestershire Haines matched the par of 71 to lose out by an single shot to Dixon but Haines did reclaim fourth spot in the Total Triumph Order of Merit as the seasons enters its final two months.
