MATT Fursland netted a hat-trick for Bridgwater Sports as they beat Staplegrove Reserves 4-1 in the Rowbarton Cup quarter-final on Friday night.

Keir Meaker added number four, while Adam Smith scored for Grove.

In the Knock-Out Cup quarter-final, Andy Caldwell’s goal was enough to fire Stogursey past Dulverton – and Locomotives beat Highbridge Town 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time.

Middlezoy Rovers Reserves beat Bishops Lydeard 2-1 in Division 1 of the Taunton & District Saturday League, with goals from Craig Robinson and Liam Moore – Sam Hallett responded for Lydeard.

Jake Woodrow scored early in the second half for North Petherton against Sampford Blues, before Luke Perry equalised for the visitors.

The West Somerset derby between Alcombe Rovers and Porlock was a one-sided affair with Porlock winning 7-1. Harry Scratchard and Adam Langdon both hit a pair, Rich Binding, Brandon Walsh and Tom McCarthy all added one each; Chris Duffy got Alcombe’s consolation goal from the penalty spot.

In Division 2, Appletree Tone Youth have opened up a six- point lead at the top of the table after a 2-0 victory away at Minehead.

Defender Nick Flynn opened the scoring when the ball fell to him from a well-delivered Stuart Glover free kick.

Tone Youth missed an opportunity to double their lead when the Minehead goalkeeper saved a penalty.

But Mike Kearly finally killed the game off from another ball into the box, this time from a mazey Matt Blee run.

Watchet Town Reserves and Nether Stowey couldn’t score a goal between them with both defences holding out so shared the points in a 0-0 draw.

Sydenham Rangers and Milverton Rangers also earned a point each in a six-goal thriller in Division 3.

Connor Watts scored all the Sydenham goals while Craig Plumridge hit the back of the net twice for Milverton and Joe Godfrey once.

Redgate beat Alcombe Rovers Reserves 3-1, with Sam Granville scoring an acrobatic overhead kick. Nick Hallett and Jack Hamblin got Redgate’s other two goals, Ian Lowe scored for Rovers.

The Bridgwater derby game between The Gallery and Bridgwater Sports Reserves was won 2-1 by Sports with Simon Caddy and John Wilde scoring; Jack Taylor replied for Gallery.

That defeat of The Gallery allowed Morganians to open up a six-point lead at the top of the table after they beat Wyvern Rangers 2-1, thanks to goals from Andrew James and Matt Brewer goals.

John Chmiewliski scored for Wyvern.

Porlock Reserves travelled to North Petherton and went home with all three points having won the game 2-1 with goals from Mike Auton and Mickey Norman.

In Division 5, Wiveliscombe closed the gap on leaders Ash Rangers with a 7-1 whipping of Bridgwater Grasshoppers for whom Shane Thompson scored.

Lloyd Cuthbert was the league’s leading marksman on the day scoring five for Wivvy while George Sinnott got the other two.

Middlezoy Athletic beat Creech Cougars 2-1 with goals from Reuben Lee and Josh Taylor; Chris Seal replied for Creech.
