CHARD Road Runners Martin and Sarah Holly were second team and first in category in the Taunton Deane Aquathlon.

Martin ran 39m 22s and Sarah swam 15m 46s for an overall time of 55m 8s.

Berni Genge also ran well in the same event.

Meanwhile Wayne Loveridge and Tom Priest both performed well at the Devizes Aquathon.

In the Exeter Half Marathon on Sunday there were good runs by Nina Wagstaff (1hr 34m 16s for 3rd in category), Paul Frazer (1hr 47m 7s) and Anna Drew (1hr 48m 44s).

This weekend Loveridge will continue his defence of the Somerset Series when he takes part in the third event of the year, the Babcary Road Race over 7½ miles.

Chard runners will also be in action in the Dalwood Three Hills Challenge – a ten mile off-road course.

Both races will help the athletes prepare for the notorious Axe Valley Grizzly race over a demanding, 20 mile off road course on March 9.

Eight Chard runners are also gearing their training for the London Marathon on April 13.
