GALMINGTON Netball Club has been re-accredited with the England Netball Gold CAPS award.

CAPS, or the Club Action Planning Scheme to give it its full name, is aligned to the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme which is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections.

It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that all accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.

Clubs achieving CAPS accreditation are recognised nationally as being a well-run club which is both active and accessible.

This means helping young people reach their full potential and giving everyone, at all levels, a chance to participate.

There are three levels of award – bronze, silver and gold. Silver and Gold CAPS awards are given to clubs that have demonstrated a further and ongoing commitment to ensuring a club environment which provides a higher quality of coaching, leadership and volunteer opportunities for young people.

Galmington are the only netball club in Somerset to have achieved the Gold CAPS award and one of only nine in the whole of the South-West.

Galmington, who are based at Taunton Vale Sports Club, run sections for all ages from as young as six in the High 5 section, through the thriving junior section running Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 teams, to a senior section of eight teams playing in the South West Regional League and the Somerset League.
