SHIPLATE Farm’s Winter Series round 8 was held on the Westpool and Hawthorn lakes.
Weather conditions were very wet, windy and chilly and a lot of rain water had topped up the lake this week.
The only absentee was Paul Chapman (due to work commitments) so Dominic Sullivan took his place to keep the pegging filled evenly.
The Westpool was a little more sheltered than the Hawthorns so the anglers were marginally more protected from the westerly winds.
Alan Healey drew Golden peg 5 Westpool, fishing bread and maggot shallow to the far bank on the pole, using zero feed tactics (as did Andy France last week’s match winner), and he gained a good lead to take first place overall with 42lb 13oz.
Results – 1 Alan Healey p5W, 42lb 13oz; 2 Steve Howell p3W, 37lb 4oz; 3 Dean Malin p9H, 28lb 12oz (section winner); 4 Dave Cockayne p5H, 28lb 9oz; 5 Tom Light p15W, 23lb 14oz (section winner); 6 Rich Hawkins p10W, 22lb 9oz.
Silvers – Julian Pinkett p7W, 7lb 10oz; and Andy Curry p13H, 3lb 10oz.
