BCS Southwest Division 3A

Bridgwater College Perf Squad 3, Richard Huish II 4

A DEFLECTED goal in the final seconds of the game saw Bridgwater slip to defeat at the hands of Richard Huish.

The defeat ended a five-game unbeaten run which had moved them to second in the table.

The initial stages of the match were dominated by Bridgwater College with the midfield trio of Stan Smith, Owen Sellick and Billy Vickery dictating the pace and style of the game.

However, for all of the possession and attacking opportunities, Bridgwater failed to get their first eight shots on target offering Huish a lifeline. From this point a physical and determined Huish side started to find their rhythm and opportunities were traded at both ends of the field.

Stan Smith opened the scoring for Bridgwater as the Huish defence held on to the ball too long, but Huish grabbed an equaliser before the break.

The second half was much more fluent by Bridgwater utilising the pace of Liam Twigger and Regan Blake to exploit the defence of Richard Huish.

After a constant threat, Owen Sellick managed to make the score 2-1, but a lapse in concentration let Huish back into the game and they took the lead with two quick-fire goals.

Kye Whelan again levelled things up with a fine free-kick, but Huish responded by taking a quick free-kick and catching Bridgwater unaware and managed to score a deflected shot in the last moments of the game.
