HORSE RACING: Action galore at Taunton

RACEGOERS have a feast of exciting National Hunt action to look forward to as Taunton hosts four fixtures between now and the end of February.
First up is the third meeting this month on Tuesday, January 28 when the opening action on the card, carrying £41,500 in prize money, is due off at 1.40pm.
The second race of the day is the first race nationally aimed at raising the profile of Racing Welfare to the racing public with awards for the Best Turned Out Horse in a series of races.
Bob Young, the chief executive of Taunton Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to welcome Racing Welfare to Taunton on the 28th. It will help raise awareness of the great work the Charity undertakes in supporting racing staff across the UK.
“I wish all the grooms competing in the 2.10 the very best of luck.”
The most valuable race on the card next week is the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Hurdle which goes to post at 3.10pm, a Class 3 event over 2m 1f with £9,000 up for grabs.
Next up is The Aid Training Handicap Hurdle over just short of 2½m which was won in a Royal Marine Charity Auction by Mr PaulHoskin who has named the race.
Racegoers are reminded that if they book their tickets online by 10am onthe day before racing is due to take place, they can save up to 20%.
A courtesy bus will depart from Taunton Railway Station one hour before the first race calling at Castle Green en route and returning 30 minutes after the start of the last race.
