TAUNTON Town face a difficult challenge when they entertain second-placed Cirencester Town in the Calor League on Saturday (3pm).

It will be their first fixture at the Viridor Stadium since their Boxing Day defeat to Tiverton Town but the Peacocks will be buoyed by their victory at high-flying North Leigh last weekend.

And they will hope to emulate that result with another three points against the Cotswolds outfit.

However the visitors arrive with by far the most impressive away record in the division, having won ten of their twelve games on the road this season, and look odds on to figure in the promotion mix in April.

The sides met in Gloucestershire back in September when Taunton were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline.

Town’s squad this weekend will be reinforced by striker Ross MacNab who has rejoined from Clevedon Town, having previously spent two seasons with the Peacocks from 2010 to 2012.

Chris Young and Shane Kingston are also both available again after finally serving their one game ban.

Nat Pepperell misses the game as he is still on holiday.

Manager Leigh Robinson said: “Saturday is the second of four tough games in a row.

“We made a great start to this tricky period last week so confidence will be good going into the Cirencester fixture. They are traditionally a physical and very streetwise side so it will be a good test but one that we will relish.”

On Tuesday evening Taunton make the short hop over to Bridgwater Town for the Calor League fixture originally postponed on New Year’s Day, kick-off 7.45pm.

Taunton Under 18s’ scheduled home encounter with Odd Down on Monday evening was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

They are next in action on Monday, January 27 at home to Tiverton Town in the Somerset Floodlight Youth League.
