FARMER Boys remain two points clear of Pirates at the top of Division 1 of the Puriton & District Skittles League after both recorded home wins.

The Boys won by 24 over Crown Jewe ls, with Chris Puddy leading the way with 73 including two floppers.

Pirates once again hit more than 500 in beating Somerset Vaults by 46, winning six of the seven hands and tying the remaining hand. Liam Birch top scored for Pirates with a 73.

Stop-Outs started with a bang against Crusaders, hitting hands of 87, 83 and 78 to give them a 52-pin lead after three hands. But they could not sustain this scoring and Crusaders pulled 28 back in the last four hands to only lose by 24. Pete Beavan top scored for Stop-Outs with 80.

In Division 2, Wasters’ charge to the title was stopped after they suffered only their third defeat of the season, this time at home to Polden Turkeys by two.

Shaun Watts was the only player to get a spare in the match and he started with three successive spares.

Turkeys move back into second spot with this win.

In a re-arranged Second Chance Cup match, Landlords Rejects defeated Polden Bears by seven to reach the semi-finals.
