MORGANIANS’ annual Boxing Day game was well attended by past and present members and also by a number of spectators from Bridgwater & Albion and North Petherton.

The club was determined to play the game, despite the very wet and muddy conditions.

The teams were split into Reds and Blues, with the Reds running out winners by 25-12.

Mike Britton and Kev Matthews, who both started playing for the club in the 1980s, appeared off the bench for the final quarter of the match – with Mike crossing for a try and Kev just missing the conversion.

Club chairman Roy Grimstead stood in as a referee for the day and later awarded life memberships to both Mike Britton and Kev Matthews for their services to the club over the years.

The day was also a charity event and £250 was raised for Cancer Research UK.

# MORGANIANS host Taunton III next Saturday (January 11).
