TAUNTON Titans resume their National League 2 programme at Hyde Park against Dings Crusaders tomorrow (3pm).

With their game against Exmouth on December 21 cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, the Titans have had an extra week’s rest to recover from any niggling injuries.

At the half-way point in the season Titans have recorded nine league wins – only one fewer than their total in the whole of their previous campaign.

With an unbeaten home record and some impressive performances, the Titans are in a much better position than they were this time last year.

Titans only lost 24-17 at Dings earlier in the season and will be hopeful of reversing the result on home soil.

However Dings’ impressive 38-0 victory over Chinnor will see the visitors travelling with plenty of confidence.

Coach Chris Brown is fully aware of the task ahead.

He said: “We know Dings provided us with a stern challenge at the start of the season and in a way our performance this Saturday needs to be an indicator of how much we’ve moved on since then.

“In the first encounter we started the game fast, had a good breakdown speed, and moved the ball with surety, taking the ball through phases. “This caused Dings problems and will be something we look to replicate this Saturday.

“However last time out we didn’t maintain that momentum and stopped playing – something this weekend we will ensure doesn’t happen.

“We know Dings will be hungry for success. One look at the scoreboard from their last outing suggests they are desperate for points and because of that we will need to be at the top of our game.

“Our set piece and fringe defence will need to be aggressive and dominant in order to be successful and with winter conditions upon us we will need to be accurate and disciplined up front.

“If we can do that I’m certain our backline can capitalise. We know how Dings play and understand what we need to do. We must now execute with steely determination, as we have shown on our patch all season. We must control the tempo of the game and take points in the red zone. “It is our home game and represents the first start of a new year. Our players are recharged and keen to start the second half run of games in the right fashion.”
