Somerset County Premier
Berrow 3, Stockwood Green 1
BERROW signed off 2013 with a 3-1 victory against a Stockwood Green side that had defeated Berrow by the same score back in September.
Berrow started the game well, although they struggled to maintain possession on a soggy Red Road pitch, which held up well despite the recent wet weather.
In a half of few chances, it was a direct free kick from the impressive Craig Hirons that handed Berrow the initiative as he expertly placed the ball out of the visiting 'keepers reach.
It was one-way traffic from then on, with Berrow controlling the game - but Stockwood looking dangerous on the break.
Stockwood pegged a goal back courtesy of an own goal from Pete John and the sides headed into the break all square.
But Hirons soon restored the lead with a brilliant chip from 35 yards, before 16-year-old Tom Yates capped an impressive debut with a clinical finish.
