JOE West of McKinlays Chard Wheelers enjoyed a superb night as the Newport Velodrome winter track league drew to a close.
Competing in the Under-14 age group, West finished first and second to clinch the runners-up spot in the C division.
A silver medal for West is a remarkable feat as he's only been riding the velodrome boards for three months.
Clubmate Rob Hogg was also in good form, taking third place in the elimination race which was enough to secure third overall in the league.
Ryan White raced to a hard-fought second place and is starting to regain his form after his collar bone break late in the summer.
Under-16 rider Emily Attfield rode her first competitive track races and performed very well.
Attfield is a member of the South-West road racing regional team and is turning her talents to track racing as well.
The spring track league starts in January.
Club chairman Brandon Ellis won the race down Windwhistle Hill during the annual club race.
Ellis, who received the 'Freewheel' trophy, plummeted down marginally faster than Chris Mansell.
