SOCIAL Club skittler Roger Quick scored a terrific total of 98 at the Morlands Club, clearing the diamond on every hand in Division 2 of the Highbridge & District Skittles League.

Roger had five spares and two nines; he needed 11 for the ton but couldn’t finish with the spare he required.

However, along with his partner in crime Steve Tindall, 75, the Social Club romped to a 71-pin victory over the Four Finger Club.

The victory keeps them joint top with the Odds & Ends who defeated Off The Rails by 64 at the Highbridge Social Club after scoring 523, thanks to Alan Carpenter’s 82 and Jerry Bird’s 70.

Justin Melhuish was in fine form for the Crown Criminals at the Crown. His 83 gave the Criminals a welcome victory, as they defeated leaders the Rogues by 23 the Rouges slip to third.

In Division 1, Bombers won a terrific match at Berrow Club against The Lads, who let slip a 39-pin lead after three hands.

Two hands of 85 and 86 by the Bombers pulled 46 but still needed a tricky last hand of of 70 to win.

Anchorman Barry Vincent needed 10 to win, he duly obliged with a 16-spare to give the Bombers a five-pin victory. Barry finished on 73 but was upstaged by his son, Rob, who scored 86.

In another cracking match, Steamers defeated the Tryer’s by 12 at Pawlett Legion.

Tryer’s scored 537, thanks to Lewis Hembury 79, John Clarke 72, and Mark Hembury 76, but it wasn’t enough as Steamers scored 549, with Ian Skinner topping the board with 87. Paul Cozens scored 80 after starting with three 16s, and Tony Burrow and Graham Blake scored 75 and 77, respectively.

In Division 3, leaders Alleycats were well beaten by the Brent Knoll Inn, going down by 34 at the Victoria Hotel, Colin Millet top scored with 74 for the Knoll.

At Ritz Social Club, John (J R Ewing) Reasons was in fine fettle for Nobby’s One.

His 80 guided his team to an emphatic 68-pin victory over the Bellends.

Basement boys Berrow Hotel had a welcome victory at Bristol Bridge; they defeated the Why Try?

by six thanks to the efforts of Steve Peace, who finished 22 ahead of his team-mates as he scored 85, which included a 26 second hand double flopper.

In Division 4, Outcasts are the surprise new leaders.

They recorded their sixth win of the season at the expense of the Berrow Basics, who were thumped by 62 at Ritz Social Club. Tony Charalambous took the honours with a fine total of 83.

White Rebels join them at the top after they defeated Top House by 11 at Highbridge Social Club.
