WELLLINGTON reserves beat Beacon Knights 2-0 to take them into the Christmas period closing the gap on the top three in Division 1 of the Devon and Exeter league.
It was a disciplined performance against a well organised side.
Wellington did not play the best football this season but were well organised defensively which gave the platform to gain three points.
Welly took the lead right on half time with skipper Luke Bryant whipping in a dangerous free kick which brother Sam Bryant latched onto to poke home.
Welly shuffled the shape to gain an advantage in midfield bringing on experienced new signing Chris May to add another body to the midfield.
It was May who played his part, finishing the game off winning a tackle and sending a ball which two passes later found striker Jamie Fleet who deliver a devastating cross which sub Eubio Do Rosario climbed high to superbly head home in a superb move.
Wellington: Williamson, Higby, L Bryant, Morton, Evans, S Bryant, A Warren, D Krol, J Rowley, Fleet, C Bryant. Subs used: May, Do Rosario, Pearson. Subs not used: Sellick.
