Weston and District Football League Round-up

CUP action took centre stage in this weekend’s Weston & District Saturday League, with four sides playing in the Atwell Shield.
Berrow Reserves were dumped out at the first round stage after a 3-0 defeat at Division 3 Banwell, and Langford Rovers needed extra-time to beat Locking Park 5-2 after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Wedmore pulled out one of the surprises of the round when the Division 3 strugglers beat Burnham United A 4-3 on penalties to Wedmore after the sides had shared a goalless draw after extra-time.
Back to the league action, previously unbeaten King Alfred Sports Centre had an afternoon to forget in Division 4 as they lost 5-0 to 100 percenters Nailsea United Colts.
Berrow A beat AFC Nailsea Reserves 2-1 in Division 6 to remain in top spot, while Burnham United B pulled away from the bottom three with a point at home to Wedmore Reserves.
l PURITON were hammered 12-1 by Tiger Old Boys Reserves in Division 1 of the Uxella Bridgwater & District Sunday League, with Daniel Mosedale grabbing their consolation.
Middlezoy Amicus and Highburn each took a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Aaron James and James Lacey scored for Zoy, while Wesley Darrington and Daniel Starks replied for Highburn.
Ramblers climbed to third in the table with a 4-1 victory over Knowle – Jack Hamblin, Sam Granville, Bradley Hunter and Cameron Hampson with the goals. Aaron Hardwidge netted for Knowle.
In Division 3, leaders ROF thrashed Huntspill Crowns 6-1 thanks to braces from David Baker and Jon Richardson and further goals from Lee Horsey and Ben Treloar.
Charlie Lintell scored a hat-trick for Cobblestones as they beat Huntspill BPH 4-2.
In the County Cup, Pawlett Rebels lost on penalties to Cary Swans after the game finished 2-2 after extra time.
