1:00pm Tuesday 22nd October 2013 in Sport
Burnham United 4 - 2 Brislington MATT Scott bagged another hat-trick as Burnham beat Brislington 4-2 on Saturday.
After racing into a 3-0 lead, Brislington hit back with two quick-fire goals. But Scott's third and Burnham's fourth sealed the win in the 75th minute.
With a full strength side to select from United attacked from the off. The midfield trio of Hirons, Ed Lamb and Warren Whitfield were dominating and creating chances for forwards Bishop, Leaf and Scott.
Matty Scott opened the scoring with a brilliant far-post header after some clever work from Whitfield.
Within two minutes Leaf had doubled the lead and Burnham appeared to be cruising.
After the break, Brislington came out firing and started to put the home side on the back foot, but with Plume and Cannard dominant at the back, chances were rare.
On 65 minutes the tie looked over as Matty Scott scored again, but the game took a dramatic twist as three minutes later the visitors scored a bizarre goal when Will Lamb was beaten by a soft shot.
Another three minutes of pressure saw Brislington get another goal and the game was back on.
Simon Smith and Mike Stevens were introduced and had an almost immediate impact as Matt Scott was sent clear and he clinically finished.
It was now one way traffic as Burnham were rampant as Whitfield, Scott, Leaf and Smith carved open the defence seemingly at will.
United now at full strength seem be thriving off the competition for places and having a settled side is helping to have consistent performances.
