Four-goal Scott fires Burnham

Burnham United Reserves 4 Kewstoke Lions 2
MATT Scott was in red hot form for the Reserves on Saturday, scoring all four goals in the 4-2 win against Kewstoke.
After a two-week break Burnham showed no rustiness, settling into slick passing against a strong Kewstoke side who beat them 6-1 only six weeks previously.
Surprisingly, a long ball undid Kewstoke with keeper Matt Dibble’s clearance finding Matt Scott unmarked 40 yards from goal.
He took the ball to the edge of the box before smashing it low past the keeper.
Moments later it could have been two when Scott was brought down in the box to give Burnham a penalty, but Lee Roberts’ spot kick was expertly saved.
Kewstoke started causing trouble with long balls, but found Matt Dibble in fine form and equal to everything thrown at him.
They equalised in the 35th minute and the score remained 1-1 into the break.
In the second half Hicks replaced the injured Worthington, and another long ball into the box found an unmarked Kewstoke striker who gave the visitors a 2-1 lead.
This sparked the home side back into life, and they were soon level with a superb team goal starting in their own 18-yard box, Scott again the scorer.
Burnham took the lead again when Scott pounced on a mis-kick from the goalkeeper to complete his hat-trick.
Kewstoke piled on the pressure, but Burnham held firm.
Late on, the ball broke to Scott on the halfway line and he secured victory with an expert individual goal, beating two defenders before smashing the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Burnham United’s next game is away to Glastonbury Town under floodlights on Wednesday, October 23, at 7.30pm
