Broom sweeps to another victory

TOM Broom is really seeing the benefit of the hard work he is putting into his game this year as he secured another win in the October Medal.
After taking just 75 blows to cover the course, he found himself taking the Division One award in what was his first ever event in that category.
His nett 63 won by four from consistent Stuart Wills, who also saw his handicap fall back down to six.
Mark Hatfield was third on 68 The Division Two winner was Phil Aspinall who repeated his Medal victory of a month earlier.
The result was closer this time around as he needed a count back to fend off Dave Bradley and Ian Adams on count back after they all returned nett 67s.
The scoring in Division Three didn’t quite match the levels of the higher two flights but Dai Wood was the victor on nett 75 beating Bob Masterman on countback.
n Pete Dunn, Pat Mullholland and Jim McLauchlan joined forces to secure success in the Bowmaker Trophy on Saturday.
They fended off the challenges of the other 15 teams to post a winning total of 129 giving them a one shot winning margin over Matt Haskins, Steve Mason and Pete Barton. Third place went to Ian Adams, Roger Phillips and Tony Romeo who were another stroke further back whilst Clive Goode, Nigel Ellis and Steve Foy took 4th on 132.
Roger Phillips enjoyed a good day with the putter as he won the October Seniors Medal.
After struggling in recent weeks, he saw plenty of putts disappear into the hole during his round of nett 64 which was 3 better than Barrie Yearsley.
Phillips’ handicap also disappeared as he was swiftly reduced by 3 shots as a result of his success.
Yearsley took the runners up spot and with it also saw his handicap reduced into single figures.
Another single figure man, Barrie Tucker, was third after his nett 72.
