1:00pm Wednesday 9th October 2013 in Sport
IT WAS a mixture of league and cup action this week for Weston and District Football League sides, with the preliminary round of the Knock-Out Cup taking place.
Langford Rovers Reserves fell at the first hurdle, losing 4-1 away at Portishead Caledonian Thistle - but Shipham fared much better, beating Westend 5-0 to progress to the first round.
In the Davis Shield, Shipham Reserves lost 5-2 at home to Banwell 'A' to put an end to their progression in the competition.
Back to league action, Berrow Reserves remain third from bottom after they were beaten 1-0 at home to Cleeve West Town in Division One, and in Division Two, Burnham United 'A' failed in their pursuit of a second win of the season, as they lost 3-1 at Clevedon Dons.
Wedmore slumped to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Worle Rangers in Division Three, and King Alfred Sports Centre played their part in a six-goal thriller at KVFC, drawing three apiece.
In Division Six, Berrow 'A' remain in top spot after a hard-fought 2-1 win away at AFC Nailsea Reserves, whilst second-placed Wedmore Reserves took a share of the spoils in a goalless draw with Worle Rangers Reserves.
Burnham United 'B' are up to fifth after an emphatic 6-2 victory at Westend Reserves. The win is their first of the season and sees them climb out of the bottom three.
