Berrow 3 Nailsea Town 2
BERROW picked up a deserved three points against Nailsea Town on Saturday.
Goals from Dave Keirle, starting his first game since August, Jack Taylor and Scott Lismore bagged the points for Berrow, who climb above Nailsea into tenth place.
It was Keirle who opened the scoring in the first minute when a defensive mix-up put him through one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and he made no mistake from 15 yards out.
Nailsea Town equalised after 15 minutes, with a good move leading to a cool finish past a helpless Nick Slack.
Berrow were playing some of their best attacking football of the season, but a mix of poor finishing and good goal keeping kept them at bay.
Scott Lismore was denied by the keeper twice after good work from Keirle and Jack Taylor and then Keirle took slightly too long with a goal scoring opportunity allowing the keeper chance to block.
At the other end a great block from Kyle McErlain prevented Town taking an undeserved lead.
Ross McErlain clipped the bar with a free kick as the home side continued to press, and Jeff Read was next to try his luck but the Town keeper was in top form and the scores were still level at half time.
Berrow made the breakthrough minutes into the second half Ross McErlain having his run into the box ended with a foul and Taylor converted the penalty.
It was three soon after, as Lismore cut in on his weaker right foot, to curl the ball past the keeper.
Berrow continued to dominate with Luke McErlain and Read controlling the midfield but couldn’t finish off their good work.
They were left with a nervous last 20 mins when a 25 yard strike flew into the net, but with Ash Catlow and Jason Kilduff replacing Keirle and Lismore they held out for a well deserved three points.
