BURNHAM UNITED 4 PURNELL SPORTS 2
TWO goals from Simon Smith helped Burnham United to a 4-2 victory over Purnell Sports on Saturday.
Matty Scott and a Craig Hirons penalty completed the scoring for Burnham, who had to come back from 1-0 down.
Burnham started slowly and found themselves behind to an early Purnells’ goal. Heading into the break at 1-0 down, United came out strong in the second half and equalised through Matty Scott.
Two terrific goals from Simon Smith gave Burnham a commanding lead, before another Purnells goal made it 3-2.
But Hirons stepped up to convert a spot-kick with ten minutes to play to seal the three points for Burnham.
The only setback for manager Luke Hussey is an injury to Warren Mylum. He said: “We played well today and Craig’s penalty gave the score a realistic look, we dominated the game.
“The only down side was another setback for Warren Mylum who went off after fifty minutes with another serious knee injury after waiting three months to recover from the last and was in fine form on his return.”
