GOLF: Perrott and Parker quick off the mark at Padbrook Park

MARK Perrott and Gareth Parker made the most of a superb start to win the Summer Fourball Betterball title at Padbrook Park.
They beat Duncan Stamp and Phil Moore 5&4.
Some excellent early play from Parker saw them race to a five hole lead at the turn. They then closed out the match on the 14th.
Dave Payne showed a welcome return to form as he won the Pengelly Cup.
Payne, who has seen his handicap rise to 13, returned a one under par 71.
He finished one shot ahead of Curtis Edwards, who fired four birdies in the first six holes but had to settle for a level par 72.

James Reed was crowned Padbrook’s Junior Club Champion after shooting a gross 76.
He finished ten shots ahead of second placed Sherrie Vile.
The handicap title went to Harry Evans who shot a net 71 and beat Vile on count-back.
However Vile had the consolation of winning the Order of Merit after an excellent season.
He scored 50 points over the season which was 11 ahead of second placed Sam Palmer.
A three way play-off will decide who wins the Captain-Pro Challenge after all three qualifiers failed to beat Captain Phil Moore and Professional Stuart Disney.
Alex and Steve Held, Dave Payne and Barry Colbourne and Keith Radbourne and Jamie Smith will battle it out for the prize next month.

Janet Franklin claimed the Ladies Club Championship. She returned a score of 19 stableford points over the nine hole event to win the Grace Bowl.
Mark Halliwell took the Seniors’ September Medal with a net 70. He finished one shot ahead of Dave Turner who would have taken the honours but for double bogeys on two of the last three holes.
