BUDE 12 BURNHAM ON SEA 50
BURNHAM-ON-SEA launched into the new league campaign with a 50-12 thrashing of Bude on Saturday.
Tries from Matt Love (2), Hayden Tuttiet, Matt Mitchell and Tim Piper (2), as well as 15 points from the boot, sealed the bonus point win for Burnham.
An early Piper penalty got the visitors on the board, before Matt Love latched on to an offload from Rich Musket to score his first of the afternoon.
Hayden Tuttiet skipped past four defenders to touch down unopposed, and Matt Love scored his second following a good kick chase. Burnham wrapped up the try bonus point on the half hour, when a well-worked backs move released Russ Pike, who in turn put debutant Matt Mitchell in for his first senior try.
Bude hit back with two well-worked tries to make the half-time score 29-12, but Burnham put the game to bed shortly after the break with two scores from Piper, who took his match tally to 25 points.
Piper was the stand out performer for Burnham, who will be delighted with their start to the season.
Tuttiet, who operated at both scrum half and fly half was also impressive and Matt Love once again showed his finishing credentials. Next week, Burnham welcome St Ives to Stag Pit, kick-off 3pm.
