GOLF: Padbrook Park are foiled

PADBROOK Park had to settle for a draw as they so nearly beat Fingle Glen in the latest East Devon League match.
The match was tied 2.5 – 2.5, but Padbrook lost one match on the 18th and another on the 17th.
Jamie Smith & Gary Stevenson and Phil Moore & Duncan Stamp won their matches by two holes. Rod Hutchings and youngster Sherrie Vile halved theirs.
But there were narrow defeats for Duncan Hepburn & Chris Manley and Andy Rooker & Mark Want. It means Padbrook have two wins and a draw from their three EDL matches so far.
Kirk Holway won Judges Day after three players tied on two under. Holway, registered his second win of the season thanks to a better last nine holes which included six pars. Hong Chau took second spot ahead of Steve Held.

Curtis Edwards moved into pole position to win the John Emerton Cup with just one event left. Edwards finished second in the penultimate midweek stableford which took him from third to first in the season-long standings.
However Duncan Hepburn scored points for the fourth event in a row and lies just one behind. In all, six players can still win or share the title.

Jim Kennard was a comfortable winner of the Seniors' White Tee Stableford. His score of 38 points was five ahead of his nearest rival, Maurice Gwynne.
