GOLF: Garys wins monthly medal at Taunton Vale

GARY Tillett shot a 64 to win the top division of the August Monthly Medal at Taunton Vale Golf Club that attracted 98 entrants on Saturday.
Tim Salter was second with 65 one ahead of third placed Nick Dennis on 66.
Pete Holley headed Division Two with 66, two ahead of second placed John Beer with 68, while Chris Sealey was third with 70.
Sean Mason topped the third flight with 67, but it was a close call for the next two places, which after counback saw E.Winter claim second and Nigel Finch third after both returned with 69.
Division One of the July Running Stableford was won by Mike Bright with 43 points, one ahead of second placed Tim Salter with 41. Rob Loder was third with 40 following countback.
In Division Two it was Mark Kirkpatrick who was the winner with 42 points, two ahead of second placed J.Webster, while Richard Taylor claimed third with 39 after countback.
Graham Dickinson came out on top in the third division with 43 points, Steve Shirley was second with 42 and Simon Hallett third with 40.
Ron Cunningham with 22 points was the winner of the Men's Veterans Mo Brice Competition that was played on the 9 hole Durston course. Graham Glew was second and Alan Ross third while the nearest the pin on the 4th hole won by David Greig and the longest drive claimed by Ron Cunningham.
The event raised £74 that will be donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
Rosie Bowidge with 69 was the winner of the Ladies Section Medal Number 10. Two players returned with 70 but after countback it was Chris Lewis who was second and Rowena Bradnum third.
The top division of the Ladies Stableford Number 9 was won by Betty Norman with 35 points,two better than second placed Wendy Walker with 33.
Rowena Bradnum won Division Two with 34 points, four ahead of second placed Pat Snelling with 30.
Carole Lancaster was the winner of the Ladies Rosebowl with 41 points, six more than second placed Jeanette Jones with 35.
The Ladybird Salva was won by Eileen Arundell with 39 points, while Christine Pashley was second with 30.
